This Biopic-Drama was released on November 10th 2006, directed by Steven Shainberg and lasts 2 hours. The life of photographer Diane Arbus(American, born as Diane Nemerox in 1923) played by Nicole Kidman. She was best known for photographs of 'freaks' and committed suicide in 1971. She was a devoted wife of Allan Arbus (Ty Burrell) and a mother, whose talents and dark obsessions were not in line with the conventions of 1958 in New York. FUR is not a biopic in the traditional sense, but it intertwines the real aspects of Arbus's life with an imaginary story and invented characters. It is a new way approaching the portrayal of an important historical person and captures the dilemma of a housewife back in 1958 who is torn between love for her family and her deeper needs to create and explore her artistic life. Robert Downey Jr. plays the role of Lionel, a freaky new neighbor, being the person that took Diane on a journey, letting her become the artist she was meant to be. The movie was loosely inspired upon Patricia Bosworth bio. Also starring: Jane Alexander and Harris Yulin. |
