Clay Driscoll is hired to be the coach of the boy's basketballI team on a Oklahoma school in the early 60s.
Ellis Brawley is the great-great grandson of the town's founder and the town's boss,
besides that he is head of the school board and owner of the bank.
Brawley tells him that he will be coaching the girls' team instead of the boys.
Clay decides to stay and tries to make a real team from the rag-tag girls who are ridiculed by
the boys for trying to play ball. Clay also has to fight The 1960's small-town attitude that girls just shouldn't be playing
competitive sports. Eventually Clay succeeds as they head for the State Championship.
